In too deep

Threat advisory: Elevated - Significant risk of entertaining activities

Movie propaganda

A fearless cop is taking on a ruthless crimelord. He knew the risks. He just didn't know how far he would have to go.

Detective Jeffrey Cole (Omar Epps) is going undercover on a mission so dangerous, it could cost him his life... and possibly his soul. The target: Duane Keith Gittens, a gangster also known as "God" (LL Cool J) who's hooked into 80% of the city's crime. No cop has been able to bring him down but Cole is not your average cop. As a recent graduate from the police academy, Cole believes he was born to serve as an undercover agent. After a few successful busts and a few close calls, he feels he can do whatever it takes to put god away for good.

After being entangled under for too long, his superiors see him as a major threat to the operation, the one love in his life, and himself. Will he be able to separate himself from the character he created after the mission is finished, or will he lose himself in the same evil he hopes to destroy? Now, with every friend he makes and every threat he faces, he's getting one step closer to the man he's after and one step further from the man he was.

Theatrical report

Michael Rymer makes a stunning move in the second scene of In too deep, inside the classroom. He knows what you are thinking. He knows what you're going to think next. He anticipates everything then suddenly takes control. He directs your thoughts in a new direction. Now your mind is being attacked by a barrage of images that you recognise, that, had you had just a few seconds more to think about it, you would have thought up for yourself. He doesn't give you any warning. No chance, no time to say, "But that's what I thought was going to happen."

In too deep is a look into the life of a baby cop, freshly graduated from the academy, with fresh, young ideas of how the world is and how it should be. Then, in a matter of seconds, those ideas become a reality, only it isn't his reality. He wants no part of it but he no longer has a choice. He wanted to shape the world in his own image but the world has her own plans for him.

This is what happens when you're in too deep.
