Theatrical report
Despite being quite funny at times, Igor is not particularly surprising if you've read Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, many of which feature hunch-backed assistants to mad scientists and who are not only smarter than their masters but have to put on a lisp and limp to keep up with society's expectations. Not that I'm accusing Chris McKenna of plagiarism, just of being unsurprising. Apart from that, this is a standard animated movie about nice guys who finish last finally getting up the nerve to finish first, having overcome psychological, ethical, physical and romantic obstacles. Gee, no surprises there, either. Nor are there surprises with the wacky sidekicks but having two of them kind of dilutes their wackiness (Steve Buscemi does a good suicidal rodent). Jennifer Coolidge gets bonus points for playing more than one character, of which my favourite is Helga: those wacky Scandinavians.
You can watch Igor but it's just a movie, not a life experience.
The animation, comedy movie Igor is directed by Anthony Leondis and stars John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese.
