Kelley and Jasper are sentenced to a creatively ironic but fitting punishment: they must help rebuild the diner. Not only does this ruin Kelley's summer plans, he also must board at the home of his rival, Jasper. Kelley begins to fulfil his sentence, but refuses to have anything to do with Jasper and his parents.
When Kelley again encounters Samantha, the attraction is immediate and strong. First love blossoms in the Berkshire Woods - angering Jasper, who has known Samantha practically his entire life. These new feelings and the romantic triangle that develops are only the beginning of a new journey for Kelley, Samantha and Jasper, as they ultimately make life-changing discoveries about themselves and each other.
Special Agent Matti
Boys are so dumb!
Meanwhile, Chris is quickly getting himself typecast as the sensitive jerk who falls in love with the only girl who can rescue him. Or maybe that's just him. Leelee gets the deep meaty lead because she has a track record of deep meaty leads... h minutes... that's being typecast, too, but there's typecast and there's typecast. Josh is the unfortunate victim of the sensitive jerk and the deep meaty leads, trounced by both but coming to love them both, too.
Sheesh, talk about a nice guy finishing last.
Despite Leelee's propensity for being a good actor there's not a great deal of depth in Here on Earth. It tries harder than most teen romances but ultimately it's been written for (at) teens rather than by teens. Love triangles are all well and good, but they've been done to death. The rich/poor thing isn't enough to make it worthy of note, either. Like you've never seen that storyline before.
If you're a teen chick wanting some boys to daydream about, Chris and Josh will fill the gap easily, otherwise, you don't need to see this flick.
