Meet Alex (Romain Duris). He is a professional home-wrecker and his sister and brother-in-law are partners in this lucrative activity which nonetheless has one golden rule: Alex only agrees to get involved with women who are unhappily married. A father who hates his future son-in-law hires Alex one week before the marriage he wants to prevent. The only problem is, the groom seems perfect and they look so in love. In need of money, the heartbreaker agrees to abandon his "code of ethics" and seduce the young woman, Juliette (Vanessa Paradis). This is his biggest challenge yet and his charms have never failed him before... but when he feels like the one falling in love things start to go awry with hilarious results.

Romain Duris is hot. This is a fact. It is known. The only reason that people don't hate him for being so hot is that he's so bloody talented. And it's not that he's super-hot like, like, Brad Pitt, it's just that he acts super-hot and you can't help but buy into it. Bastard. Still, I'd tap that.
The story to Heartbreaker (L'arnacoeur) is pretty basic - Hollywood has made plenty of these films (see My best friend's girl, Hancock) - but this has that so Frenchy, so chic feel to it. Unfortunately it has some of that lowbrow French humour to it as well... the kind that's full of "derp" humour. But mostly, it's Romain being hot and sexy and funny and romantic and lovely. If ever there was a French romantic comedy that makes you reach for the tissues, this is the one.
