Movie propaganda

They call themselves The Goonies. The secret caves. The old lighthouse. The lost map. The treacherous traps. The hidden treasure. And sloth... join the adventure.

From the imagination of Steven Spielberg, The Goonies plunges a band of small heroes into a swashbuckling surprise-around-every-corner quest beyond their wildest dreams! Following a mysterious treasure map into a spectacular underground realm of twisting passages, outrageous booby traps and a long-lost pirate ship full of golden doubloons, the kids race to stay one step ahead of a family of bumbling bad guys... and a mild-mannered monster with a face only a mother could love.

Theatrical report

Still a classic.

I have always loved The Goonies, even as a teenager when movies like that were stupid. It's even better for me now, because I am able to enjoy the great sound quality on DVD; but I stress to all of you readers out there that if you didn't like it the first time, you're not going to like it now.

There are a lot of interactive bits to this disc. I really enjoyed seeing the cast all grown up and doing a voice-over commentary (optional) of the film. It lets you see all the useless bits of knowledge about the making of the movie. Besides, you'd be surprised to see how they've all turned out. There were a few deleted scenes that were added, which did help make the movie more understandable. For example, after the kids grab the map in the attic and they race out the house, and then down the street around the corner... you'd think that they would have had a huge head start on Brandon. They didn't. They went into a convenience store, just before they are seen racing around that street corner... you have to know the movie to understand what I am talking about.
