In the tradition of Rosemary's baby and The others this taut and gripping thriller tells the story of devoted parents who are willing to do anything to resurrect their murdered son.
When Jessie (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) and Paul's (Greg Kinnear) 8-year-old son Adam is tragically killed on his birthday, Richard (Robert De Niro), a doctor on the forefront of genetic research, befriends his former student Jessie and her husband at the height of mourning. He leads the couple in a desperate attempt to reverse the rules of nature and clone their son. The experiment is successful and under Richard's watchful eye, Adam grows into a healthy and happy young boy, until his 8th birthday.
After his birthday, things go horribly wrong. The "new" Adam begins to suffer from night terrors and frightening flashbacks as a sinister personality begins to emerge. Jessie and Paul are terrified of their son and his cold, vacant stare.

Theatrical report
Oh boy. Godsend is another one of those films that famous actors do so that they can:
- earn money;
- keep working;
- have their agent tell people they're still working;
- have money to pay their agent to tell people they're still working.
The concept that DNA - fragments of DNA! - can record full sound and colour memories is ludicrous. There just isn't enough storage space in DNA to record eight years of experiences: sight, sound, taste, smell, touch, emotions, thoughts. One can barely fit a two hour movie onto a DVD let alone 70,128 hours onto some scraps of protein.
Oy.
