Movie propaganda

He sees dead people... and they annoy him.

Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais), is a man whose people skills leave much to be desired. When Pincus dies unexpectedly, but is miraculously revived after seven minutes, he wakes up to discover that he now has the annoying ability to see ghosts. Even worse, they all want something from him, particularly Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear) who pesters him into breaking up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen (Téa Leoni). That puts Pincus squarely in the middle of a triangle with spirited results.

Theatrical report

There are some funny bits in Ghost town but any film about a dentist is doomed to fail before it starts.

Ricky Gervais plays his standard slightly annoyed, socially inept Englishman which is only funny in this film because he spends most of his time being annoyed (and sarcastic) at the plethora of stupid Americans. I'll vote for anyone who takes the piss out of the Yanks (even if it is like shooting a fish in a barrel). Likewise, Téa Leoni and Greg Kinnear play their standard annoying and stupid Americans. Taking the piss out of them is so easy that I'm surprised there wasn't a team of janitors with mops and disinfectant.

Ghost town is a minor comedy with romance that won't do anything for anyone's career.

The comedy, fantasy, romance movie Ghost town is directed by David Koepp and stars Téa Leoni, Greg Kinnear, Ricky Gervais.
