Special Agent Matti
The play within is William Shakespeare's A midsummer night's dream, dealing with four mixed-up lovers. The play's characters are mirrored in "real" life by the film's characters, four mixed-up lovers. Who said Shakespeare is irrelevant?
Get over it holds back from the gaudiness of, say, American pie 2 although it does manage to throw in a gratuitous shot of Ben's cute butt, Kirsten in a bikini and some quick glimpses of accidental boobies. There is also singing and dancing, pot shots at boy bands, high school theatre and an outrageous turn by Martin as a second-rate drama teacher. He even upstages Ben's deep dive into humiliation (not quite an apple pie, but close to it).
It's cute, it's funny and it's sweet. What more could you ask for from a teen romantic comedy?
