Failure is not an option.
Sexy superstar Demi Moore delivers the most daring performance of her career in the powerful action film GI Jane - from world-renowned director Ridley Scott. In a controversial decision by the USA government, Lieutenant Jordan O'Neill (Demi Moore) is chosen to be the first female soldier in an élite counter-terrorist unit. First she must overcome ridicule from the all-male squadron and endure a torturous regimen of daily training, both physical and mental. Then, when a military mission suddenly goes wrong behind enemy lines, O'Neill has the chance to prove herself, but only by saving the life of the man who's been her biggest opponent all along - her commanding officer! A story packed with high stakes suspense, raw emotion and intrigue, GI Jane is the ultimate action film!
Also starring Viggo Mortenson and Anne Bancroft.

Theatrical report
A chick action movie. Scary, eh?!Anyhoo, Bruce can rest assured that he still wears the action pants in the Willis-Moore family. While this is a well-enough made war film, it never quite gets beyond its message about equality for women in combat situations. At times this message is as subtle as a fundamentalist preacher, and that detracts from the gritty, sweaty action sequences. Let's make a rule that from now on all action films are entertainment, not education.
Demi is gritty and sweaty as the upstanding career officer. The bastards are bastards, the good men are good men. The surprise plot change isn't. Too much time is spent on the gruelling training, not enough on the consequences of female penetration of a male bastion (Did you like that metaphor?). There's a bit of politics and some dirty tricks thrown in for good measure, but GI Jane just doesn't measure up to an Arnie, or even a Stallone.
