From début director Riad Sattouf comes a rollicking tale of a pair of losers who suffer the small triumphs and endless humiliations of teenage sexual longing.

While pimply wise-ass Hervé (Vincent Lacoste) and his metalhead sidekick, Camel (Anthony Sonigo) are forever fantasising over their female classmates (as well as said classmates' mothers), they're rarely ever able to go as far as actually talking to a girl, except when it's to mumble a few incoherent insults. However when Hervé finally catches the eye of the sweet but equally sex-crazed Aurore (Alice Trémolière), he's pushed to choose between his first probable girlfriend and his unquenchable libido, while dealing with a nosy mother (Noemie Lvovsky) and Camel's fears that Hervé will score before he does.

For a boy...

Puberty was bad enough the first time without having to sit through another two hours of it. (I know that it's only 1½ hours long but it's a French film so it seems longer.) Men who watch this movie will be able to cringe at the memory of just how stupid they were (Young, dumb and full of cum - Director of Intelligence.) Women who watch this movie will be able to cringe at the knowledge of just how stupid men are, because the only difference between a teenage boy and an old man is the age. We don't get any more intelligent, we just get better at hiding it.

The French-kissers (Les beaux gosses) is equal parts humour and horror; if you ever had pimples or bad hair, you'll relate to it. Be prepared for a shuddering good time.
