The path is unsafe. The place is unknown. The journey is unbelievable.
The forbidden kingdom takes us on a spellbinding, action/adventure journey into martial arts legend. Shot on location in China, this marks the historic first-ever on-screen pairing of martial arts superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li and features the awe-inspiring action choreography of Woo-Ping Yuen.
While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano) makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the powerful Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk (Jet Li). But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.

Theatrical report
The forbidden kingdom tries hard but never gets above the predictable stage. With Crouching tiger, hidden dragon, you never quite knew what was going to happen next and you were constantly surprised by the kung fu stuff. Now, Chinese martial arts movies are ho-hum, even though this film resurrects some of the cool themes of the 70s Japanese classic Monkey Magic. The forbidden kingdom is a fun film for the uneducated but nothing worth writing home about.
The action, supernatural movie The forbidden kingdom is directed by Rob Minkoff and stars Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Michael Angarano.
