Movie propaganda
Dracula 2000's clever and revealing update begins with team of techno-savvy thieves who break into a high security vault, hoping to steal priceless artworks. To their utter disbelief, the vault instead hides a well-protected crypt, a crypt that has not been opened in 100 years, a crypt that will unleash Dracula's ancient terror upon the modern world - and all who come into contact with him.
Dracula (Gerard Butler), freed at last from a century in confinement, finds himself in a 21st century of chaos and temptation, of Virgin Record Stores and subterranean night clubs, where he fits right in. His first destination is the USA - the ultimate location for his charismatic seductions of beautiful young women and his unceasing quest for power - but there is another reason he has come here. Somewhere in New Orleans is a young woman Dracula must find... the only person on earth with whom he truly shares his dark legacy.
Also starring Christopher Plummer as Abraham van Helsing, Sean Patrick Thomas as Hal, Omar Epps as Marcus, Jeri Ryan as Valerie, Jennifer Esposito as Solina, Jonny Lee Miller as Simon, Justine Waddell as Mary, Colleen Fitzpatrick as Lucy, Danny Masterson as Trent, Lochlyn Munro as Peter and Shane West as JT Written by Joel Soisson from the novel by Bram Stoker, directed by Patrick Lussier.

Theatrical report
Blood flavoured popcorn.
Aimed fairly and squarely at the Teen Boy market, Dracula 2000 is a blood and gore trash flick with some sexy babes thrown in for good measure. If you're a Teen Boy, or pretty much any other kind of male, you'll like watching it. Females might find it sexist, patriarchal, repressive and offensive. Dracula 2000 is an appeal to the lowest common hormone and it appeals very well.
Have the marketing people taken note that Teen Boys really like to see big-breasted, strong-willed, physically aggressive, sexually assertive women who will dominate them completely? Think about Lara Croft and Seven of nine. Think about Vampirella. Think about Women on top. Men are sick of being the boss, they want a turn on the bottom. As long as they think they're in control.
Uh... sex, blood, breasts, gore, violence... yeah, that's about it. The whole thing about Dracula being Judas in disguise is just some silly twist designed to make the film seem more intellectual than it is. Don't worry about it.
Heat and serve.
