Dive bomber
Threat advisory: Under evaluation
Movie propaganda
Dive bomber soars into uncharted cinematic airspace as it explores with authenticity and high drama the life and duty of the military flight surgeon.
Errol Flynn portrays a young Navy doctor determined to overcome the deadly phenomenon of pilot blackout at the end of a power dive. Fred MacMurray and Regis Toomey play a couple of hard-bitten, old-line pilots who at first question Flynn's capability, but come to realise that he and others like him are essential to their survival in the air. The struggle to solve the life and death problem is fascinating both in its documentary-like realism and sheer nail-biting suspense.
Made in the days leading up to the USA entering World War II, Dive bomber delivers its patriotic message with skilled storytelling and truly magnificent colour aerial photography.
