The Defenders are a crack team of lawyers dedicated to one principle - the accused is innocent until proven guilty. In this tense courtroom drama, a legal firm of two generations - Don Preston (Beau Bridges) and his niece MJ (Martha Plimpton) - come together to fight for justice and truth against the odds.
After his speech at a campus rally incites students to beat a man to death, America for Americans leader John Walker faces a wrongful death suit. Although the students have been sentenced for their crime, the Prestons and the deed boy's family attempt to deter walker from spreading his message of hate and intolerance. As difficult as it will be to argue against the First Amendment - and contest the ACLU's public support of Walker - they prepare to fight one of their most compelling cases.
