There is no escape.
It is 1926. Harry Houdini (Guy Pearce) is the most famous escape artist in the world. The "man behind the performer" is a different story however. It has been 13 years since his beloved mother passed away and his greatest regret is he was not at her bedside when she died to hear her last words. This haunts Houdini, so much so that he offers a $10,000 reward to anyone who can contact his mother from beyond the grave and reveal her dying secret. Enter Mary McGregor (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and her young daughter. When they learn of the reward, they set their sights on the world's greatest escape artist as their ultimate target. But what begins as a con soon evolves into something much more complicated and dangerous...
