I'm not sure exactly when, but some time during the first five minutes of this film I got the idea that it was a TV show rather than a movie. I was, of course, correct. Cruel intentions 2 is the prequel pilot to the spin-off of Cruel intentions, the movie.

After getting over this initial shock, I sat back and took it on its own terms. It was good to see where the characters came from. It was good to see Valmont before he turned into a bastard (which makes it more believable that he could turn into a nice guy at the end of the movie).

Unfortunately, you can wait until the series gets shown on TV. Don't hold your breath, however, because the planned series got the can before the pilot got released here.
