He had to have her.

Dan Klores' Crazy love tells the astonishing story of the obsessive roller-coaster relationship of Burt and Linda Pugach, which shocked the nation during the summer of 1959. Burt, a 32-year-old married attorney and Linda, a beautiful, single 20-year-old girl living in the Bronx had a whirlwind romance, which culminated in a violent and psychologically complex set of actions that landed the pair's saga on the cover of endless newspapers and magazines.

With the co-operation of the principles, Burt, now 79, and Linda, 68, Klores examines the human psyche and the concepts of love, obsession, insanity, hope and forgiveness.

Theatrical report

Uh-huh. Some people are just so crazy that you're glad they never got the chance to breed. Burt and Linda Pugach are two such people. If you ever want to learn about co-dependence, this is the couple for you. Crazy love is the perfect title for this film because they are nuts!

Who would've thought that compulsory forced sterilisation could look like a good idea?

While it's not a great documentary, Crazy love is fascinating for its psychological examination of the Pugachs and for the tabloid views of their lives (fame has its upside if you're making a film about someone).

The biography, documentary movie Crazy love is directed by Dan Klores and stars Burt Pugach, Linda Pugach.
