Ok, so, this dude had some hard times, talked to a voice in his head and made a million dollars. This is the American Dream, with a side order of Religion. Very spiritual, especially the part where he makes a million dollars.
On the other side is a hard-core drama about the descent of a man from mediocrity to the bottom of the barrel. You know things are bad when bathing and eating become optional extras. I've been low but never that low. Neale Donald Walsch's climb back up to the world of showers and restaurant food that doesn't even come from a dumpster is not as interesting (falls are always more fun to watch than rises) but it does balance everything out.
As to whether you think the philosophy is worth any beans, well, that's up to you. I choose to mention at this stage that I don't worship any deity. For those of you who do, Neale's god has a lot more going for it than the Christian one, that's for sure.
For those of you who like the way Neale and his deity think, think of Conversations with God as the movie of the book
