Theatrical report
City of Ember is a pre-teen adventure movie that has little to say but which says it with a certain amount of style, which is to say that the actors were upstaged by the set. Eek! It's a bit like The Matrix for Tweens who like knitting and macramé. Most of the special effects are good (the notable exception is the water ride) and the premise (that only one person can know the secret at a time) is silly but it makes an inoffensive kiddie sci-fi flick.
The adventure, fantasy movie City of Ember is directed by Gil Kenan and stars Bill Murray, Tim Robbins, Harry Treadaway.
