Movie propaganda
Following the success of the Cuban Revolution, Che Guevara (Benicio Del Toro) is at the peak of his fame and power when he vanishes without a trace. Resurfacing some time later in the jungles of Bolivia, Guevara sets about recruiting a new band of insurgents to help him spread the revolutionary message across the rest of Latin America. But as the Bolivian government and CIA close in on him, this will prove to be his most dangerous campaign yet.

Theatrical report
Bolivia sure ain't Cuba. Cuba is full of lush and verdant overgrowth. Bolivia is as dry as a nun's tit. I know this because I saw it in this movie. Cuba is also an organic experience for Che: he experiences, he learns, he grows. Bolivia is the practical application of theories created in Cuba. Unfortunately for the Bolivians (and their foreign friends), theories learned on one battlefield don't automatically transfer to the next.
Che (Part Two): Guerrilla is a continuation from The Argentine, skipping over a few minor incidents (eg Thirteen days, the Congo, the Soviet Union) but otherwise bringing us his beginning as a revolutionary and his end. This is a more difficult film to watch than the first one because, as we all know, the revolutionaries end (and Bolivia is about as hospitable as the Red Heart, see above). Still, it's just as important to see a man on the way down as it is on the way up.
My biggest question remains unanswered by these films: Why do revolutionaries wear berets?
