Movie propaganda
Life doesn't hold tryouts.
Centre stage, a drama with heart and energy that follows the hopes and dreams of a tightly knit group of young dance students as they try to make a name for themselves and become stars in the fiercely competitive world of professional dance.
Vibrant and supremely gifted, they are students who devote themselves to their art, sacrificing ordinary pleasures of life to train with the rigour of Olympic athletes. While experiencing the normal joys and sorrows, loves and conflicts of youth, they vie for a place in an ultra-selective professional dance company. Featuring a diverse musical palette - from Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jamiroquai - Centre stage traces the story of these fresh-faced, talented friends as they strive to take their place centre stage.

Theatrical report
Centre stage is Fame for the noughties.
The differences: an actual homosexual (you know, like there actually are homosexuals in ballet, like, who knew?), superior dancing skills, dedication rather than talent and teachers who don't get on well. Imagine.
If you like dancing then this is your movie for this decade. The premise of a workshop to produce a talent night to show off the students to artistic directors is good because it drives the story along. First rule of writing: always give your characters deadlines. Other than that Centre stage is an ok film with pretty dancers and a prodigal son. Ummm... you already know if you're going to see it from this, so there's not much more for me to say.
Other than...
There're some teen babe idols. If you're into that sort of thing.
