Little people. Big trouble. Lots of fun.

Have you ever misplaced a sock? Some jewelry? So you think you know where you left a pen or spool of thread only to find that it isn't there? This long-standing, perturbing state of affairs for mankind has a very simple explanation. The Borrowers.

Their world exists surprisingly nearby... have you ever looked under your floorboards or between your walls? It is a world where that missing sock is used as a bed, where that pen has become a bridge, where postage stamps are wall posters and walnut shells are helmets.

The Borrowers follows the adventures of the dauntless, tiny Clock family: Parents Pod and Homily, their fearless daughter Arrietty and her younger brother, Peagreen. Knowing they must keep their existence a secret lest they be squished, Borrowers live by their wits, ingeniously procuring and using borrowed articles.

Starring John Goodman and Jim Broadbent. based on the books by Mary Norton.

Theatrical report

Since I have developed a thumping headache, all I'll say is that this is an entertaining family film with plenty in it for adults and kids alike. I haven't read the Borrowers books but this film seems to be a pretty faithful adaptation of them: funny, adventurous, exciting.

Show the young 'uns when they start to get snippy over the Christmas break.
