Based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius' 2007 novel about a CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation - and his life - on the line.

Body of lies is just another day at Secret Squirrel Headquarters: running, shooting, bleeding, sneaking, hitting, killing, jumping, lying and double-crossing.

Leonardo DiCaprio is not as hard as he was in Blood diamond but that's because the script is a bit softer (more dialogue). His relationship with Russell Crowe is masochistic and something less than subtle (ie idiots back at home setting policy for places they've never even visited) but it does highlight the stupidity of the US intelligence community and politicians.

All over some oil they wouldn't need if they hadn't sold their souls to the car manufacturers.

This is a good, fun film for the boys with lots of intrigue, deception and blood. Excellent!
