Sometimes when a fighter laces up his gloves, steps into the ring and answers the bell, he doesn't know who his toughest opponent will be - the other boxer or the corrupt system.

Small-town boxing sensation Charlie David (Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini) is known in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania USA, as "The boy who would be king". But Charlie wants more than a kingdom... he wants the world... the welter weight championship of the world to be exact. Together with his best friend and manager, Tiny (Michael Chiklis), Charlie heads for the title fight in Reno. His mind is set, his body's honed, and he's ready for anything the competition can throw at him... but the one thing that Charlie's not prepared for is the devastating blow he's about to receive from the boxing association itself!

Homer Simpsons.

In the middle of this film the bad guy refers to all the people who go to watch his boxing matches as Homer Simpsons: working class stiffs with neither ability nor desire to be anything more. They don't care if the fights are rigged as longs as they're entertaining (think WWE). This film is made for Homer Simpsons.

The acting never gets beyond two-dimensional, the script never gets beyond one-dimensional but there's lots of boxing and bleeding and half-naked to fully naked chicks flashing their boobies at whoever passes by. There are also some flash cars and fancy living. A Homer Simpson dream come true.

Although, if you are a Homer you aren't likely to be reading a film review on the net. Let this one slide.
