Joe (Jay Mohr), a successful Los Angeles writer, wants to move to a peaceful small town. He thinks he's found home when he discovers the town of Black River in northern California. But despite the beautiful setting, Joe begins to feel unsettled after several disturbing incidents. He decides to leave, but his efforts are mysteriously thwarted and he is forced to stay in a local motel. There he discovers that all of his money has been transferred to a bank in Black River, and a local realtor has purchased a house for him. Astonished and disturbed, Joe soon learns that in Black River some people are meant to stay forever - even if it means they have to die to do so.Also starring Ann Cusack, Lisa Edelstein as Laura, Diana Stevan as Mary, David Ogden Stiers, Stephen Tobolowsky as the Mayor and Frank C Turner as the farmer. Written by Daniel Raplitz from the novel by Dean R Koontz, directed by Jeff Bleckner.
