Movie propaganda
Fatherhood is brought to another level in Big daddy, as Adam Sandler brings his unique brand of humour to face the challenges of parenthood.Thirty-two-year-old Sonny Koufax (Adam) is a law school graduate steadfastly avoiding the increasing pressures of adult responsibilities. In a misguided attempt to impress his soon-to-be-exgirlfriend and prove he is ready for such charges, Sonny accepts custody of five-year-old Julian (Cole and Dylan Sprouse) under the pretense of being his biological father. Before long, Sonny - plunged into the unknown territory of sleep deprivation, irritating children's songs and bedwetting - is embracing his role as a temporary dad taking an unconventional approach to child rearing...

Theatrical report
Adam finally beginning to live up to his abilities.Where The waterboy was a lame duck of little boys' games and too much money, Big daddy is and adult flick with an incorrigible Peter Pan at the centre. Maybe he'll realise that he's discovered his niche.
*Crosses fingers*
Adam is very, very funny; he plays "the man who won't grow up" to a T. He even managed to bring a tear to my flatmate's eye (during the Taking Away scene... you knew there'd be a Taking Away scene: it's a fillm about an orphan, there has to be a Taking Away scene). If Adam's next film is as good as this one I will wipe The waterboy off the slate, and that's saying something! Joey plays the love interest very subtly, better even than her performance in A cool, dry place. It's nice to watch. Cole and Dylan, naturally, steal every scene they're in: blond hair, big eyes, five years old, talent. How ya gonna compete?
The story is surprisingly good for an American comedy. The plot is believable, the characters are realistic, the ending is... wait for it... not what I guessed when the video started! Can you believe it? Well, it's true. The people who end up parenting Julian are not, repeat, not, who I guessed. That's worth an extra point in and of itself. Nah, I ain't gonna tell you who it was. You'll have to see the film to find out.
Big daddy is a middle-of-the-road movie that's perfect for a good night in. Especially if you've ever wondered what a Hooter's looks like!
