Where hope survives.
Naïve American Sarah Jordan (Angelina Jolie), living a pampered life in 1984 England, has her world turned upside down when Dr Nick Callahan (Clive Owen) crashes a fund-raising ball and delivers a fiery plea on behalf of the children under his care in Africa. Attracted to Nick and his cause, Sarah leaves the comforts of London for the harsh realities of Africa, Cambodia and Chechnya so she can work alongside Nick and feel the renewed passion for life he has awakened within her.
