Movie propaganda
Pete Sandich (Richard Dreyfuss) is a pilot who drops water on forest fires at very low heights. His intended, Dorinda Durston (Holly Hunter), is also a pilot who doubles as a radio controller for the pilots who do this work. Pete always takes chances, confident that his skill will bring him through. One day it doesn't and he is killed. He finds himself returning as an invisible ghost who's presence is barely felt giving advice to his successor. Pete then finds that his successor, Ted Baker (Brad Johnson), is also falling in love with Dorinda.

Theatrical report
Sob, sob.
Always uses the danger of flying planes into flames to heighten the stakes in a typical "my boyfriend died then came back to haunt me" romance. There's nothing hugely outstanding about the film but it will get your heartstrings resonating with sympathetic vibration. There's nothing like watching a man give up the woman he loves because he is no longer the one whom she loves. It's an understated little flick that will bring a tear to your eye. If you liked Ghost you'll like Always.
