Movie propaganda

In music she found her dream, her love, herself.

Mariah Carey stars as Billie, an up and coming Rhythm and Blues star in the 80s. Billie overcomes a childhood in which she is abandoned by her father and is raised in foster homes after being taken away from her drug-addicted mother (Valerie Pettiford) to achieve stardom and success in the music industry. With her childhood friends Louise (Da Brat) and Roxanne (Tia Texada) by her side she navigates her way through the business where she is eventually discovered by DJ Dice (Max Beesley). Dice proves to be a major impetus for her career, but when their relationship turns to romance Billie quickly learns of his darker side. Just as her music career reaches incredible heights Billie is forced to confront the deepening lows of her personal life and decide if "all that glitters" actually is gold.

Theatrical report

Glitter is a vehicle for Mariah Carey to make a move into film and sell a soundtrack album while she's at it. Ummm... yeah... that's about it.
