Movie propaganda
A fictionalised drama inspired by the story of Jackie Kallen, the most successful female manager in boxing history, the film stars Meg Ryan as Kallen and Omar Epps as Luther Shaw, her champion-in-the-making. The real Kallen was a former Detroit TV personality, publicist, and suburban mother, who broke into the predominantly male boxing community and guided the careers of several fighters, including champions James Toney and Thomas Hearns. Kallen later went on to become the commissioner of the International Female Boxers Association.
