After receiving Best Director at Berlin Film Festival last year for his previous film, Samaritan girl, Kim Ki-duk is back with 3-iron (Bin-jip), an exceptionally beautiful love story.
3-iron (Bin-jip) follows Tae-suk (Hee Jae) who wanders around the city on his motorcycle, pinning flyers on doors. After several days he comes back to check if they have been removed; if not then he concludes the owner of the flat is absent and breaks in, settling down comfortably as if it were his own home, he washes up and even fixes broken things he finds before disappearing just before the occupants return. One day he enters such a house without realising that one Sun-hwa (Seung-yeon Lee), a former model, now battered wife, is still in. She joins him as the pair roam around town from one flat to another, gently embarking on an affair of their own.
3-iron (Bin-jip) is a finely tuned, imaginatively orchestrated, purely visual form of storytelling.
